IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TRAVELERS

When planning your trip, please note that a 4x4 car will pick you up from your hotel or accommodation in Panama City. The drive to the port of Cartí takes approximately 2 hours, with a stop for breakfast along the way. The final stretch of the journey will take you through part of the Guna Yala jungle.

Once you reach the port of Cartí, a boat will take you to the island where our sailboat awaits. The boat ride will take between 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on weather conditions and the location of the island where we are waiting for you.

Please remember to bring your passport, as Guna Yala has its own border and you will need to show it upon entry.

Entrance Fees:

  • Panamanians: $6

  • Foreigners: $21

Additionally, there is a $2 port tax per adult.

Children do not have to pay the entrance fee to the Guna Yala Territory.

If you have any food intolerances, allergies, or specific foods you do not eat, please inform us well in advance so we can prepare accordingly when organizing supplies for the trip.

We also kindly ask that you notify us of any special physical conditions or requirements to ensure we can accommodate your needs and make your experience aboard the Tintamare as comfortable as possible.

Fresh water is a precious resource aboard the boat, so we kindly ask for your cooperation in using it wisely and responsibly.

Our power source is solar energy, so please remember that electronic devices should be charged during daylight hours to ensure we can manage energy consumption effectively.

We recommend traveling light and to not bring too many things, here you dress light. Bring sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses. If possible, DO NOT BRING A RIGID SUITCASE. A duffel bag or backpack are better choices. You can always leave part of your luggage in the luggage room of your hotel in Panama.

There are usually no mosquitoes, but it is best to bring a mosquito repellent just in case.

Bring motion sickness pills if you think you will need them.

It is also good to bring a plastic bag to cover your luggage during the boat ride to our sailboat to prevent it from getting wet.

Please note that during the months of March, April, and May, it is the closed season for lobster and crab in San Blas. As a result, we do not serve these products aboard the Tintamare during this time.

Please note that there are no banks or ATMs in Guna Yala. When you are picked up early from your hotel, kindly ensure you bring enough cash for any expenses, as there will be no opportunity to withdraw money once you're in the region.

The internet connection is not very good in Guna Yala but if you want to stay connected, it is best to buy a $2 TIGO Chip in town before you come, and a $5 recharge card.

Digitel is another option, although there is not always good reception.

The San Blas Islands are a true paradise—an extraordinary destination filled with natural beauty, white sand beaches, swaying palm trees, crystal-clear waters, and vibrant coral reefs. It’s a place where time seems to stand still, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in its serenity.

Embark aboard the Tintamare and let the magic of this stunning archipelago sweep you away.

Welcome aboard—we can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you!
