IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TRAVELERS
When planning your trip please note that you will be picked up around 5 a.m. in Panama City. A 4x4 car will pick you up at your hotel or accommodation in Panama City. The trip to the port of Carti takes about 2 hours (the driver will make a stop so you can have breakfast) before making the last part of the journey through part of the Guna Yala jungle.
Once in the port of Carti, a boat will take you to the island where our sailboat will be waiting for you. This tour can last between 30 minutes or 1 hour depending on the weather conditions or the island where we are waiting for you.
Remember to bring your passport because Guna Yala has its own border and you will have to show it.
The entrance fee to the Guna Yala. Guna Yala Indigenous Territory is $6 for Panamanians and $21 for foreigners.
There is also a $2 port tax per adult person.
Children do not have to pay the entrance fee to the Guna Yala Territory.
Regarding food, if you have any food intolerance or allergy, or any food that you do not eat, you must let us know well in advance to prepare our supplies on board. We need to order supplies in advance. As well as any special physical condition.
Fresh water is a precious commodity on the boats so a good use of it is appreciated.
Regarding electricity, please be reminded that our power source is solar so any electronic device recharging should be done during daylight hours.
We recommend traveling light and not to bring too many things, here you dress cool. Bring sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. If possible in a soft bag or backpack but NO RIGID SUITCASE. You can always leave part of your luggage in the luggage room of your hotel in Panama.
There are usually no mosquitoes, but it is best to bring a mosquito repellent just in case.
Bring motion sickness pills if you think you will need them.
It is also good to bring a plastic bag to cover your luggage during the boat ride to our sailboat to prevent it from getting wet.
During the months of March, April and May is "closed" time for lobster and crab in San Blas so we do NOT serve those products on board.
There are no banks or ATMs in Kuna Yala and when picking you up early at the hotel, please take the money you will need beforehand.
The internet connection is not very good in Guna Yala but if you want to stay connected it is best to buy a TIGO Chip in town before you come (2$) and a 5$ recharge card.
Digitel can also be, although there is not always good reception.
The San Blas Islands are a paradise, a unique place full of natural beauty, white sand beaches, palm trees, crystal clear waters, coral reefs and an atmosphere where time stands still. Embark aboard the Tintamare and let yourself be carried away by the magic of this archipelago, welcome aboard!
